Creativity (Prewriting)

Sometimes, your first challenge is to come up with a topic. It can take time to figure out a subject that is worth your—and your readers’—time and attention. Luckily, there is a process for generating ideas (See A Technique for Producing Ideas below). When you find a subject you like, try to get feedback to determine if your idea will resonate with your audience. See what turns up in search engines. And ask a few potential readers if they would devote time to reading an article on the subject you have in mind.
