If I start blogging about my life with the intent on making a profit, can I write off things like rent, food, gasoline and vacations off as business expenses?

It depends on 1) Exactly what you're writing (topics). Will it be useful information that people WANT to read? And will it contain key words that the search engines will rank highly?2) Your writing style. Is it entertaining enough so that people will want to come back and read more?3) Where your blog is being hosted (if you're on a blogging site, then most of your ads will be about blogs and not related to your content, and so you'll get fewer clicks and less money).3) And exactly HOW you intend to earn money. For example, if you want to register yourself with Google AdSense, or use affiliate programs like Amazon (recommending books for further reading is always good), then you're really going to NEED your own domain name to get approved for these programs. Hi Buddy,The person who responded you first has said absolutely correct and i just want to add few more in addition1.U were saying like you want to have a website or blog which will tell about you...and also about food,rent etc..,let me tell u one thing here.Just think of only one in all these food,rent,gas etc... because even the name of your site drives traffic to your site so the name also plays a very major role.If you include all the items like gas,food,rent etc...u cant get a website that connects all these items and for example if u select rent ur website can b like for ex, www.yournamerent.com where in ur website becomes self explanatory and people visites ur website with the notion that they get some information about rents and if u create a website like www.buddydude.com and give information about rents then i wont say u will run in huge losses but ur revenue may dip atleast a bit.So,look after that u have taken only one thing into consideration and are focusing only on that particular item.2.Is it a blog or a website?People generally have the notion of thinking blogs as cheap and websites are given a bit more weightage.o always prefer website ahead of blog.Domain name u can get from a local webhosting which are becoming day by day very cheaper.3.Content is the king.As we all know we visit a particular website for some information but not to click on the banners in the website so be strict on the content which will pull the people to your website.Try to update atleast once in a week.4.Then u need to go for Google Adsense or any of such kinda programs.To my knowledge Google Adsense is the best of the Best.But for this you need to have a bit of patience.Google first needs to accept and only after that u will be able to make money out of their program.5.Also u can make money through a challenging way through commision junction www.cj.com u need to get registered over there and there after u will b having option to choose the merchants and u need to have their approvals and once they approve u as their customer u can copy and paste their adds in your website and those who clicks and purchases a product from your website u will have a part of that as commision and that will b paid to u.5.If you need to have a look at it then you can always have a look at my website here for reference.I have put the merchants adds here which wont look like those at all.
